The Juditta (formerly Guidi) reclining wheelchair is truly a revolutionary chair. It is designed, manufactured, and imported from Italy. The closest comparison chair is the Broda. This multi-user chair is extraordinary in its ability to support and position patients with poor trunk control. It is designed to accommodate patients that spend long periods lying down or semi-reclined. The low seat, foldable arms, and removable leg rests make for easy transfers to and from the chair. It is almost infinitely adjustable. The headrest, leg rests, arm height, seat angle, seat height, seat length, leg angle, and leg length are all adjustable. Physical therapists love how the seat/seatback and seat/leg mechanical joints coincide with the physiological joints. The upholstery can easily be removed and washed or replaced, and can even be used without the upholstery. Also, aftermarket seat cushions work well. The Juditta chair maintains correct posture during all adjustments without using belts or side supports thanks to the backrest shape. Looking down on the backrest reveals the stretchable cords forming the back are arranged in a "V" configuration. These cords also allow for a very breathable, comfortable, and cleanable support surface. This not only keeps the body aligned, but prevents pressure on the vertebral column. According to the manufacturer, pressure mapping studies showed the Juditta chair surpasses other chairs in pressure reduction. This is in harmony with the tilted seat angle that helps the patient from sliding forward in the chair. The ability of the chair to easily tilt and recline is supported by two powerful gas-cylinders that support the weight of the patient during adjustments preventing workplace injury. This makes adjustments by the caregiver of both tilt and recline angles very easy, and without any lifting of patient weight. Thoughtful engineering work is evident in placing the center of gravity forward of the rear wheels, even when fully reclined, keeping the chair stable in all configurations without the need for anti-tipping additions. This chair can be equipped with several options including adjustable tray and tray cover, adjustable seat belt, abduction block, footplate cushion, and calf rest. This chair is manufactured by Ormesa in Italy.
